Interview With Elizy

What’s the story behind your artist name — and does it reflect who you are today?

Elizy is my stage name and it was cut out from my main name Elijah.. zy to me sounds like a wizard someone who’s deadly with what they’re known for, like magic you understand, but mine is music, perfect with whatever I decided to move with. the meaning.

Which song of yours means the most to you, and what inspired it?

“Oh worry less” is the current favorite from my songs, it was Play before, because I made that song for my birthed city Lagos and I was inspired by Fela the Afrobeat God father, Oh worry less is the latest as it appears to be at the very tragic moment in my life that I had to get in the studio to preach that vibe

How would you describe your sound in three words — and why those?

Love- redemption-vibes
I mostly speaks of love in my vibes
I love to return back to the roots with where we coming from and going, sharing lights with the music.
Creating vibes to chase away sorrow.

What was the moment you truly felt like an artist — not just someone making music?

When I visited glitch Africa to perform my song “Expensive love” it was nice because they’ve worked with a lot of artists well known, and also when my music entered into top 100 World album on Apple Music.

Who are your biggest musical influences, and how do they show up in your work?

Fela Anikulapo kuti, the God father of Afrobeats, I listen to his songs a lot and it helps me understand Afrobeats and how it should be continued, Wizkid also inspire me with his background and at times his music, chronixx inspire me with his lyrics, and more Artist like that.

What’s your creative process like — from a blank page to a finished track?

Get in studio with my producer, I don’t write ahead I hear instrumental at first before I can decide when I want on it, I also rehearse ahead of the studio session at times and try to be creative but it doesn’t work for me.. the instrumental inspires my flow, my environment birthed my lyrics at times

If someone’s hearing you for the first time, which track should they start with — and why?

Pariwo this is my first ever hit single aside the one I fit orista Femi the street star, “Pariwo” was performed live with Kinetic sound and the the turn up was massive on YouTube.

What’s been your most unforgettable moment on your music journey so far?

It been over 8 years and I’m grateful about the growth and I will never forget back then when I started that I was so eager of getting my music out there then ran into some group of scams that called their selves Management, my former management in year 2018 to 20 was just scamming and taken my money from me no better promotion, they seized some of my expensive recorded tracks with some well known producers after i realized they set me up, i got arrested when i decided to leave but never was given my rights !

What do you want people to feel when they hear your music?

I want people to feel the depth of the feeling I was before I get in the studio, my music attracts calm souls and chilled energies, love and all of that goodness

What’s next for you — and what should fans be excited about?

I’m working on a new project soon, I just released a single off the Album.
